Services will be held Monday, 11:00 am at Boardman United Methodist Church for Geraldine Ethel Knickerbocker, 88, who went home to be with her Lord March 18, 2010. Mrs. Knickerbocker was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Glens Falls, New York, a daughter of Justin Price and Cora Ayesha Schermerhorn Farrar. She is a retired officer and Pastor of The Salvation Army. Her husband Major Hubert S. Knickerbocker whom she married Jan. 10, 1942, died Jan. 3, 1996. She and her husband were in charge of the Youngstown Salvation Army from 1964-1971. Surviving her are four daughters, Dorothy A. (Robert) Forrider of Lorain, Carolyn R. “Cookie” Knickerbocker of North Ridgeville, Stella M. Forrider of Lorain and Captain Geraldine G. “Deannie”(Capt. Adam) Moore of Minneapolis, MN and six sons, Charles H. (Kathie) Knickerbocker of Canton, Dr. Kenneth L.(Rosemary) Knickerbocker of Grove City, OH, Donald E.(Cheryl) Knickerbocker of Ashburn, VA, Atty. Ronald E. (Bobbie) Knickerbocker of Boardman, George D.T.(Teresa) Knickerbocker of Marion, OH, and Major Paul S.(Major Kathleen) Knickerbocker of Lewistown, PA. Twenty six grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also daughter-in-law Deborah Knickerbocker of Akron and sister-in-law Louise Farrar of Glens Falls, NY. A special family friend, Grace McIntire of Cleveland. Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents is a son PFC Richard J. Knickerbocker and brothers Stewart and Charles Farrar. A son in law Jerry Forrider. Friends may call Sunday from 2-6pm and Monday 10-10:45am both at the church. The family requests material tributes to take the form of contributions to The Knickerbocker Star Lake Music Camp Scholarship Fund, C/O The Salvation Army, 2507 E. 22nd St., POB 5847, Cleveland, OH 44101. She lived a life of service to others which continued even after her retirement. She often visited people and sent letters and cards of encouragement. She will be missed by many people around the world.
